Logs

You have three different views under the Logs:

1) Runs: Showing a view of all the Runs. (Original overall Runs page now located under 'Logs' > 'Runs')

2) Logs (see for the detailed description below)

3) Data Errors: List of all the data errors that are generated in connection when having the 'continue on error' feature under Transfers enabled.

Overview

Here you find all the Log entries of the runs from transfers, schedules etc.
Every time a transfer is run, information will be written to the Log.
Here you can view all the transactions from Transfers, Schedules etc. that have been executed
In the header of each Log Entry, you will find information about DateTime, Transfer Code, the Source, and Destination, and a description of the Transfer as well as if any errors occurred during transfer. (see below in the section "Log Entry" for a detailed description.) Furthermore, you have shortcuts to the specific Transfer and if Source Control or Mirror is set up you also have a shortcut to the specific RTI entry.
Internally we have a job that automatically cleans up (deletes) old log entries that are of little interest any more:

Per default,

- All delete progress messages are deleted after 7 days
- All delete control (and error) messages are deleted after 90 days
- All delete initialized messages are deleted after 365 days
- All Log Compress entries older than 14 months are deleted

Rapidi Support can adjust those values if you wish.

The filtering menu will give you various options to find the log entries you are looking for.

Date/time: You can choose the to and from date fields that will filter on the time interval.
Schedules: Clicking the "Schedules" icon will give you the possibility to search and filter on the name of the schedules.
Group: Clicking the "Group" icon will give you the possibility to search and filter on the name of the group.
Transfer: Clicking the "Transfers" icon will give you the possibility to search and filter on the name of the transfers.
Runs: Clicking the "Runs" icon will give you the possibility to search and filter on Runs.
Source Connection: Clicking the "Source Connection" icon will give you the possibility to search and filter on the source.
Destination Connection: Clicking the "Destination Connection" icon will give you the possibility to search and filter on the destination.
Error: By choosing from the "Error" dropdown menu lets you chose between seeing all the log entries containing errors or no errors.
Search: Use the search field for free search.

Each Log Entry contains in the heading information about DateTime, Transfer Code, Source, Destination, and Description of the Transfer and if any errors occurred during transfer.
- Datetime: Indicates the date and time the transfer was run.
- Transfer: Shows the Transfer code.
- Source: Shows which source data has been transferred from.
- Destination: This shows which destination data has been transferred to.
- Description: A text describing what happened during transfer (or what the Log entry is all about). NOTE: The description text in red will indicate that there is an error in the log entry
Furthermore, you will have a direct link to this specific Transfer. If RTI is set you will also have a direct link to the specific RTI. NEW
Clicking on the +/- lets you see more details about the log entry

Log Entry Details

In the Log Entry you can view the following information besides the information already shown in the heading of a Log:

Transfer: The Transfer Code is shown here.
Sub-Transfer: If this Log entry is regarding a SubTransfer, the SubTransfer Code will be shown here.
Source: This shows which connection data has been transferred from.
Destination: This shows which connection data has been transferred to.
Schedule: If the transfer is run using the Scheduler, then the Scheduler Code will be shown here.
Group: If you are running a Group of Transfers, the Group Code will be shown here.

Message Codes:
- Is Error: If an error occurred during transfer this field is marked 'true' (indicated with check-mark). If no error occurred during transfer this field is marked 'false' (no check-mark).
- Time Used (Seconds): Total time used (in seconds) on the Transfer or Sub-Transfer (including time used on any Sub-Transfers, Scatter or Gather below this Transfer).
- Log Type: This shows the log type.
- Message Code: This shows the message code.
- Service Code: Shows which Service has been running the Transfer.
- Filename: Filename and Path used. Filled in only for some FTP, FTAM, and File Communication Messages.
- ID: Each entry gets a consecutive number.
- Run Id: Each entry has a specific Run Id.
- Run Type: Run Type can either be 1 or 0.
Statistics - Record Count:
Here you will find some numbers regarding this run of the Transfer. These are only filled in for the Transfer Completed Log entry.

Packages sent: This shows how many packages there have been sent. If the transfer runs in an optimized way (reading and writing several records at the same time), this figure will be substantially lower than the number of records read or written to the datasource.
Bytes sent: This shows how many bytes there has been sent.
Packages received: This shows how many packages there have been received. If the transfer runs in an optimized way (reading and writing several records at the same time), this figure will be substantially lower than the number of records read or written to the datasource.
Bytes received: This shows how many bytes there have been received.
